Frontier Trails COVID-19 Protocol

Frontier Trails Camp is monitoring the COVID-19 situation as best we can with regular zoom meetings with OCA and their constant contact with the government and public health. We are hard at work making sure that Camp this year will be the same excellent experience, as every other year. Some activities may look different based on recommendations received from public health. We will not be offering the Adventure program right now until we see what activities are open and what busing protocols are. Our registration will probably be a little different with more time to spread out.

As of now, these are some of the protocols we would likely have in place:

establishing camper cabin group cohorts
use of masks when social distance can not be established with an instructor or camper out of cohort group
social distancing during meals in conjunction with our outdoor seating under the big top tent
frequent handwashing
regular health screening for campers and staff at Camp
Adjusting activity schedules to accommodate smaller groups
Additional hand sanitizer available across the property
Routine cleaning and heightened disinfecting throughout facilities, including activities and equipment
Signage posted to reinforce important behaviours

We will continue to share regular updates as we look forward to a successful Summer Camp season.

COVID-19 Status

It is looking more and more like Camp will be a possibility this year. Our camps have been lobbying the govt. over the past year to help us open safely, for funding, and free rapid testing and I see that Summer Camps were on the radar in yesterday’s budget.

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION IS OPEN at Frontier Trails. We see the Ontario Govt. has Summer Camps specified in their new budget. Woohooo! the Ont. Govt also enhanced the CARE tax credit, increasing the average support to $1,500 from $1,250 per family in 2021, which will help provide some tax relief to families sending kids to camp and outdoor education programs.

We will have reduced capacity with COVID-19, so there will be limited spaces. Session 1 Horsemanship beginner program only has 2 spaces left at the moment so they are filling up. You can register with a $25 deposit and do a payment plan to hold your camp space. We are not taking any further payments until the Govt gives us surety that the camp will be running, but we will email everyone and let you know. Thanks so much for your patience and hope to see you and your children this summer.

If Family Camp is more comfortable for you we have family trailers available for rental from May to Oct. in a separate area of the property. Families can book activities or Parents can enjoy the alone time while their kids go to day camp each day! WIN! WIN!

OUR 2021 application Will be opening on Feb 15^th with a $25 non-refundable deposit to secure your week or weeks. Camp capacity will only be 50% so spaces are limited! We are trying to get a feeling for whether the camp will be running next summer before we have everyone register. The Ontario Camping association has been lobbying the government to keep camps open next year if it is safe, so here’s hoping!

FAMILY CABIN & TRAILER RENTALS: 3 SEASON: Special New this year 2021: We have 6 trailers for families and cabins we will be renting out. We did some rentals this year and that was something families were allowed to do was stay in trailers together. We will be offering some activities for the kids even if the overnight camp can’t open, so keep that in mind as well. We will be putting the trailers on our website soon as well, so keep an eye out for that!
