Why Choose Us

Camp Family

We are made to live life together. This is why we love friends and family, and it is why we want our children to make life-long friends. Camp is a great place to form these special friendships. Camp is unique, in schools, children form alliances, and they often only make friendships with those in the class room. But at camp we live life together, every day and every summer, often campers will plan their summer camp around the times their camp friends can attend. Each year we see many children coming back to camp, anxious to see the friends they have made in previous summers; friendships that have lasted through the school year, even when they live in different cities or go to different schools.

Frontier Trails is a Small Camp. Large camps aren’t necessarily bad, but it’s easy for campers to get lost in the crowd when you are one of hundreds of campers. At Frontier Trails, we view our summer camp program size of 40-60 campers as a great asset. We know your child by name and we will be able to help him or her meet their individual needs and goals. We are a family, and you can see how that is much more achievable at a smaller camp.

For overnight Retreats we have a much higher capacity with room for over 100 people in winterized rooms and some cabins as well.

What do the directors look for when Hiring Counselors?

Counselors are the foundation of any camp and its safety is directly linked to their skills. The moment your child walks in the dorm, they look up to their counselor as a mentor and a leader. By limiting our enrollment we are able to be extremely selective in choosing our staff. We do this because we feel strongly that the counselors are the most important part of a great camp. It is their skills that will be the foundation of safety in our programs; it is their personalities and caring and sense of adventure that will inspire campers to “reach beyond their grasp” and try new things. FTC counselors’ average age last summer was twenty, and many began have grown up attending camp. The Staff are a fun filled, outgoing and energetic group of young people and they are excited to introduce your child to the most FUN and MEMORY filled growing experience of their life.

How Experienced are the Camp Directors?

Both have spent their teenage and college years, working with kids, youth, and special needs groups. They both have continued to work over the years in Eganville and surrounding areas with different communities in our area. Dave and Marie have 6 children who grew up and worked at camp over the years and 3 of these children are still working at the camp with them.
